Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26th, 1991) more popularly known as her stage moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist to be affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP on the label Dreamville Records. It was at this point that she first gained the attention of her peers. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. The album was released in May of 2019. Ari Lennox posted her music online in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued posting her songs online, including her self-released single Bound. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album, which came out on the 21st July. released on the 21st of July. The following year, her music circulated around the Dreamville team as J. Cole wanted her to join him in creating some potential references to Rihanna. She was officially signed with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat was a track she performed alongside Cozz in The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. The 21st of October, 2016, her EP Pho was released. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter guested on two tracks with EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 she released her debut single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video came out on the 5th. On the 9th of November the singer released two new singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Two more singles were released by her on 11/13, titled Pedigree and No One. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her debut album of the same title. This track, which was launched with a music video posted on YouTube on February 20, 2019, has been viewed over three million times over the first 7 days. In December 2018, she performed as performing as a support act on The From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
