Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree of English literature. Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). The following year, she was a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief of the congressional reporter in 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell is a regular in the TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist and host. Mitchell was a panelist at the debate in 1988 between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. In 2005, Mitchell received the highly coveted Goldsmith Career Award for Excellence in Journalism from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and in 2004 in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association (RTNDA) honored Mitchell by awarding her the Leonard Zeidenberg Award in recognition of her contribution to the protection for First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell first covered the White House for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 during the entirety of Ronald Reagan's presidency. She has covered several notable stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra saga. She traveled extensively together with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
